AGM Minutes – May 24, 2005

Attendees: John DeGrace, Kinnie Mason, Don Hagreen, Larry Steele, Judith Johnson, Graham Tyler, Lyliss Feniuk, Edward Dobrowolski, Ken Bilski

1) Ken Bilski was appointed Secretary.

2) Minutes from the AGM of June 5, 2004 were approved (motion by John and seconded by Edward).

3) Judith reviewed our obligations as a Charitable Society.  We are currently meeting all obligations.

4) Treasurer’s report:  Ken went over BMS income and expenses stating that in the previous year, our bank account had decreased by about $700 but that, for this year, our bank account increased by about the same amount bringing us back up to $2600 at year end (March 31, 2005).

For filing purposes (Soc. Act + Taxes), Ken/Larry signed the Balance Sheet/President’s report/Soc. Ann. Rpt. Form 11.

5) Judith will continue to take care of our newsletter which will be distributed solely via email/web (no paper).  Judith asked that listed contacts let the webmaster (Tawnya Walker) know if they will be out-of-town and not checking their email for an extended period.

6) Judith made a motion (seconded by Ken) to pay Tawnya $200 for her work on improving and maintaining our web site.

7) Nominations were made for officers:

      Edward – Pres.

      Ken – Treasurer/Sec.

John – Assistant Treas. (if/when Ken is away during year)

These were passed by acclamation.  All directors currently listed on Soc. Ann. Rpt. Form 11 will remain and Edward will be added.  Ken will transmit a copy of Form 11 to Spruce Credit Union for acknowledgement of legal co-signers of the BMS account.

8) Planning: Judith noted the two upcoming Zen weekend retreats (Oct. 2005 and April 2006), and the monthly Sunday morning sits at Gerry’s house.  John indicated that Adrianne Ross would most likely visit again for a Vispassana weekend retreat at UNBC.  John will also look into possible one-day retreats at St Michael’s.  BMS will have one or more social pot-lucks this year (perhaps after a Sun. morning sit).

9) John will attempt to sell more of our surplus from the last yard sale prior to donating any remainder to charity.

10) Judith requested approval to commission Pema Designs to make a dozen support cushions.  Motion was approved.  Judith purchased White Wind Zen Community dharma talk CDs with money that had been donated for that purpose, and was given a receipt for $140 for her donation for web site payment.
